An article “Raising the alarm by SMS” describing how AMBERresponse.com can be used to help improve the safety of walkers was published in the 2nd issue of Walkingworld. This article described not only how to use the service, but also highlighted some of the traditional pitfalls of relying solely on a human contact to notice you had not returned from your walk.
In addition to the article, a link was added to the walkingworld website so that an AMBERresponse.com ALERT could be created by anyone downloading one of their 2,000+ walkplans.
