An emergency contact can only see information in the event of an alarm being triggered and them receiving an emergency text message.
They are advised to call you first to see if you really need assistance,
if this is unsuccessful, they can then access information about your situation via the web and the AMBERresponse site.
To do so, they should enter a PIN number into the box at the top right of the
AMBERresponse homepage and follow the instructions given.
Alternatively gain access to information via a 24 hour automated call centre.
When you add an emergency contact and their mobile phone number, if this number is not recognised by AMBERresponse,
a text message is sent to them advising them that you have nominated them as your emergency contact.
This message requests that they reply with the text 'OK' to confirm that you have entered their number correctly.
If they reply as instructed, their name will appear in blue when you define an alert to show that these contacts
have confirmed their mobile numbers. You can still use emergency contacts who have not confirmed, just make sure you
enter their number correctly.
To access information via the web, they will require the PIN number, their own mobile number which the
emergency message was sent to and your mobile phone number.
Your mobile number and the PIN number are contained in the emergency text message they receive. On the phone line,
they will only need the PIN number.
On the basis that the information entered is correct (and your alert has been set in alarm mode)
they will then be provided with the details of THIS ALERT ONLY.
Note that no one can gain access to information about you unless an alert has been triggered
or you have revealed your password.
AMBERresponse does not initiate contact with emergency services, this is left to the discretion of your emergency contact.
AMBERresponse does not hold any additional information and therefore is unable to answer questions
via the call centre beyond the standard information provided.
